• Lycopene, the open-chain, unsaturated carotenoid, gives the bright red color to tomatoes, guava, watermelon and pink grapefruit.
• Different carotenoids are distributed in different concentrations in different areas of the body, probably because they have specialized support functions in these areas.
• Lycopene seems to concentrate in the testes and adrenal glands.
